São Paulo, October 2020 - The Covid-19 pandemic, a disease caused by the new coronavirus, started a wave of solidarity around the world. In Brazil, Ecolab is one of the companies that has mobilized on several fronts to help tackle the pandemic. Among the actions taken by the company are the donation of 900 food baskets for institutions and families that are in a vulnerable economic situation, and the donation of 11.000 containers of hand sanitizer to public hospitals in the State of São Paulo.

Food basket donations will be distributed by APAE Suzano (association of parents and friends of mentally disabled children) and CEPAC Barueri (association for the protection of children and adolescents) to families in the communities of Suzano and Barueri during the months of September and November. This effort reinforces Ecolab's commitment to supporting and developing the communities where its manufacturing facilities are located, and its employees live and work.

Hand sanitizer donations were distributed to social assistance organizations like Ronald McDonald Institute (157 containers) and Health Secretary of São Paulo State (6,956), as well as public hospitals Santa Casa de São Paulo (2,940), Santa Casa de Marilia (315), Santa Casa de Pirassununga (315), and Santa Casa de Santa Rita do Passa Quatro (308).

Ecolab also donated 6,000 liters of sodium hypochlorite to the Municipality of Barueri (SP) for cleaning and sanitizing the city's public routes. The chemical compound will be mixed with water and the resulting bleach used to disinfect streets, hospitals, basic health units and public facilities.

“The pandemic has generated an even greater awareness of the importance of helping those who suffer most from one of the biggest health crises in history. For us at Ecolab, caring for the health and safety of our employees, customers and communities is an essential part of our business. These initiatives reinforce our commitment to society, helping to make the world cleaner, safer and healthier,” said Orson Ledezma, vice president and general manager for Ecolab in Latin America and Brazil market head.
